My first post.

I've been scouring facebook market place for a C64, 128, or Amiga .. not sure which I'll land on but so far am finding the brown 64 is averaging $200 for the 'puter .. the 128's appear scarce and expensive when I find them .. and the Amiga so far unable to "test" and about $500. Any suggestions on what to look for when buying on facebook with Commodores? A lot of them appear to have been auction / estate purchases. I'm in Indiana.

For the price of what they are going for, I would just go for the new C64u if you want real hardware. It is a FPGA board and does everything a original 64 did plus more. You are probably looking at $400 plus a pretty decent wait till you get it. OR you can just go emulation. I have a couple of Real 64's and a Ultimate 64 and barely use them because I don't want to destroy them. Emulation, I run a couple of BBS' on one is a full blown SCPU/CMD Hard Drive/Ramlink set up which back in the day would have cost about $1500 when new. Today the SCPU if you can find one sometimes goes for well over 10k! The other board runs on a Lt Kernal HD with a 64. You can't beat emulation as it does everything the original did and then some. You can make a PC boot right into Vice, and automatically boot into the C64.. The same goes for the Amiga, I bought AOS 3.2 a few years back, and ran at the time WinUAE in Windows, now I run Amiberry in Linux and I have a full blown A4000 with all the bells and whistles. Something which back in the day would have probably cost about $3k, today if you can find an A4000 you are lucky. Check out emulation you might just agree that it is worth it..

E in Windows, now I run Amiberry in Linux and I have a full blown A4000 with all the bells and whistles. Something which back in the day would have probably cost about $3k, today if you can find an A4000 you are lucky. Check out emulation you might just agree that it is worth it..

I have seen that, it's awesome! I had a C64 growing up and ran C-Net on it .. I never owned a C128 or Amiga and would love to give one a spin. I may start with emulation and if I don't have time to dig in further will probably go with the C64 Ultimate.
