IHMO: I don't think these laws will pass the Constitutional sniff test and, for things like Linux, will be unenforceable.

And don't get me started on how to implement this in FreeDOS (which has already said that it's not possible).

If you read my reply, you'd realized they didn't do such a thing. A sheriff cautioned people playing an "assassin" game and running around with fake guns probably isn't a good idea in this day and age.

If someone can provide a pending bill in VA reclassifying water pistols as assault weapons, please cite it.

VA dumocrats have passed a bill that makes my Glock 19 pistol the same as an assault weapon because it holds 17 rounds instead of the required 10 (or 15 - forget which). This means I cannot 'legally' put this gun in my car and carry
it to the shooting range.

I would guess that could get challenged in court.

In the meantime, can you carry it to the range if it is not loaded, or if the magazine is not in the gun, and then load it at the range?

As for the 2nd part of your question (unloading the gun), I am not sure at this point. All of this is very new to me as the stupid guvnr just signed a pile of bills this week and I am not sure which ones she signed or didn't.
