Connemara Detailed Forecast for Fri 10 Apr 2026

A thoroughly miserable day across Connemara with persistent rain, low cloud and strengthening winds. Dense overcast will dominate from dawn to dusk with drizzle transitioning to continuous light rain through the morning, becoming heavier at times during the afternoon especially across western coastal areas. Moderate to locally heavy bursts of rain are likely mid to late afternoon with precipitation totals reaching 15-25mm in exposed western districts, 10-20mm inland. Temperatures will struggle, rising only to 8-10C in most areas by afternoon despite the cloud cover. Early morning lows of 4-7C will give way to a slow temperature climb through daylight hours.

Winds will be a significant feature, increasing from moderate southwesterly breezes early morning to fresh to strong south-southwesterly gales by afternoon. Exposed coastal headlands and higher ground can expect gusts of 45-60 kph through the day, strengthening further to 50-65 kph during the evening. Wind chill will make it feel noticeably colder than thermometer readings suggest, particularly in the afternoon with effective temperatures near freezing on higher ground. Visibility will be poor at times in rain and low cloud, with hill fog affecting elevated areas throughout. Conditions remain unsettled into the evening with continuing rain and strong winds persisting after dark.
